Kate Middleton stays up until midnight on her kids’ birthdays for this sweet tradition

What a pieceful birthday the royal children have.

On Sunday, Kate Middleton and Prince William’s youngest child, son Prince Louis, turned five years old – and it’s a birthday that is marked in a sweet tradition, with his mom most likely staying up until midnight for a very special reason.

In 2019, Middleton revealed that she likes to bake her own cakes for her children on their birthdays, and typically stays up until 12 to do so.

“I love making the cake,” she admitted during a 2019 BBC Christmas special called “A Berry Royal Christmas,” where she teamed up with expert baker Mary Berry to prepare festive foods for the those who work with their various charities.

“It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much,” Middleton said at the time. “But I love it.”

The Post reached out to reps for the royal family for further comment.

In honor of his fifth birthday, Middleton and her husband posted a few rare photos of Prince Louis on their official Instagram page. The pictures were captured by accomplished portrait photographer Millie Pilkington.

In the first photo, Middleton is seen pushing the Prince in a wheelbarrow, as he smiled gleefully, wearing a blue fair isle-print sweater and matching dark blue shorts.

The other shot was a close-up of the little one’s face, as he smiled into the camera.

“Someone’s turning 5 tomorrow… 🎂 🥳,” the royals wrote in the caption of the post. “A very happy birthday to Prince Louis.”

And, Prince Louis isn’t the only one in the royal family with a spring birthday – on May 2, Princess Charlotte will turn 8, and may also have a special cake made by her mom.

The Princess’ birthday comes just a few days before her grandfather, King Charles’, coronation ceremony, which is set for Saturday, May 6 at Westminster Abbey.

The ceremony will mark the official transfer of title and powers to the King, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II last September.

The star-studded event will feature performances from Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli, and Katy Perry.

First lady Jill Biden will also be in attendance.

It was announced earlier this month that Prince Harry will be in attendance – but without his wife, Meghan Markle. His appearance will be the first in the United Kingdom alongside the family since his bombshell tell-all memoir came out in January, called “Spare.”

In the book, he claimed that his stepmother, Camilla, Queen Consort, “leaked stories” to the British tabloids to “maintain her image.”

On Friday, The Telegraph reported that Markle had allegedly sent a letter to King Charles about racism concerns in the royal family after her 2021 interview with Oprah.

The outlet claimed it was one of the reasons Markle wouldn’t be in attendance at the royal coronation.

Markle’s team denied that the letters were the reason for her absence in a statement to The Post.
