Romelu Lukaku ‘warns Inter Milan boss Simeone Inzaghi that he wants to play more as he is furious with his lack of game time this season’… while the Belgian ‘preferred training sessions at the club under Antonio Conte’

  • Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter Milan hasn’t gone to plan so far this season
  • The Belgian striker has scored just three goals in 15 league games during his loan
  • Lukaku preferred life at the Italian giants under former manager Antonio Conte

Romelu Lukaku has reportedly voiced his frustrations over his lack of game time since rejoining Inter Milan last summer.

The 29-year-old joined the Italian club on loan just one year after he left the club for Chelsea – where he endured a frustrating campaign at Stamford Bridge last season.

Lukaku’s return to the San Siro hasn’t gone to plan, with the striker scoring just three goals in 15 Serie A appearances.

Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport have now reported that Lukaku is furious with his lack of minutes and has warned Inter Milan boss Simeone Inzaghi that he wants to play a bigger part.

Lukaku is also unhappy that he has been replaced too many times this season – only playing the full 90 minutes twice in nine league starts.

The Belgian striker has his concerns over Inzaghi’s training style and it’s reported that he preferred life at the club when Antonio Conte was in charge.

He believes Conte’s training methods were more suitable for his body – and together Lukaku was able to fire Inter Milan to the title in the 2020-21 season with 24 goals in 36 appearances.

A source reportedly told the Italian publication that Lukaku is ‘paying a high price for training sessions that do not improve him or allow him to reach his peak’.

Despite this Lukaku would like to return to the club at the end of his current loan spell.

Lukaku has two months left to prove to Inter why they should look to negotiate with Chelsea this summer over a permanent transfer.

Chelsea would be expected to take a massive loss if they are to part ways with Lukaku, after the Belgian failed to impress following his £98.5m move to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku’s last goal from open play with the Nerazzurri was back in August against Lecce.

He could however get a chance to prove himself today, with Inzaghi reportedly set to start Lukaku against Fiorentina.

Liverpool player Roberto Firmino is among a list of names said to be potential options to boost Inter Milan’s attack this summer.

The list also includes Mateo Retegui who plays for Argentine side Tigre, Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gianluca Scamacca of West Ham.
