She elaborated quite a bit in a lengthy caption, which she began by giving a, ‘special shout out to the wonderful staff of doctors, nurses and aides at @cedarssinai for taking such good care of me.’

‘I had an emergency appendectomy last week and while it’s been quite a painful experience, I also know it’s a gift to even feel this pain,’ she added.

‘I realize after speaking with my doctor that it could have been much worse,’ she elaborated.

‘Appendicitis attacks happen suddenly and seemingly out of nowhere. And when you are in that much pain, the last thing you want to do is go anywhere,’ she said.

‘And when you have autoimmune disease, you are often having strange health occurrences that no one can explain or help you with so sometimes, you try to wait it out, like I did. I was wrong,’ Inaba admitted.

The dancer admitted she should have, ‘come straight to the hospital right when the pain in my abdomen started, after the sudden and violent vomiting that knocked me off my feet.’

‘I should have gone when I couldn’t stand without excruciating pain… but I honestly didn’t want to leave my babies, and I’m so accustomed to pain —thought I should let it play out,’ she added.

‘If you have pain in your abdomen, please have it checked out because it could be something very serious,’ Inaba told her 532K followers.

She received some love from her DWTS family, with Derek Hough replying, ‘Get well soon ❤️ I had that a few years ago. Glad you got it taken care of. Feel better’

Violinist Lindsey Stirling added, ‘Omg. So glad you’re ok! What a scary experience. ❤️❤️❤️’

Crystal Hefner added, ‘Oh no I’m so sorry. I have a “wait it out” situation happening right now. It’s sad that we never know.’

DWTS pro dancer Gleb Savchenko added, ‘Hope you feel better,’ while Gilles Marini added, ‘Get better love. You will be up and running in zero time. Love love love.’

The autoimmune disease Inaba referenced in her post is Sjorgen syndrome, a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease that, ‘destroys moisture-producing glands.’

She serves as Sjögren Syndrome Foundation’s National Awareness Ambassador and Spokesperson and has committed to raising awareness and striving for a cure.
