Prepare for the Summer of Sonic, as SEGA mascot added to another new release

SEGA has announced plans to bring Sonic the Hedgehog to another new game this summer. Just days after unveiling Sonic Origins Plus for consoles and PC, SEGA has confirmed that its mascot will appear in upcoming rhythm game Samba de Amigo: Party Central. Launching on Nintendo Switch, the Samba de Amigo sequel will feature two songs from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, plus an appearance by Sonic himself.

According to SEGA, ‘Escape From the City’ from Sonic Adventure 2 ‘Fist Bump’ from Sonic Forces will be playable in the new Samba de Amigo game.

A stage based on City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2 will also appear in the Nintendo Switch game.

With additional songs launching as post-release DLC, there’s a chance even more Sonic the Hedgehog tunes will join the soundtrack in the future.

Samba de Amigo Party Central will launch with 40 different songs from a wide variety of different genres.

It will also feature a variety of in-game challenges and mini-games, which can be used to unlock new items.

Players will use the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers as maracas, which they must shake along to the beat in order to get a high score.

A whopping 16 Sonic the Hedgehog games will also be playable in Sonic Origins Plus, which has a June 23 release date.

In addition to the core games featured in the original Sonic Origins (Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles, and Sonic CD), the new version contains 12 Game Gear Sonic titles.

Fans will also be able to play as Knuckles in Sonic CD, while Amy will be playable in each of the core games listed above.

Sonic Origins Plus will be available as a standalone release, or as a £7.99 add-on for anybody with a copy of the original.

Perhaps most crucially of all, however, is the news that SEGA will make a variety of gameplay tweaks and bug fixes when Sonic Origins Plus launches later this year.

The original version shipped with a multitude of gameplay bugs and glitches that were heavily criticised by fans.
