Research commissioned by Dobbies has shown that almost three-quarters of Brits plan to grow their own fruit, vegetables and herbs this spring.
Half of those surveyed said it was because they thought they would taste better, half also hoped it would be fun and give them a sense of accomplishment, while nearly 40 percent said it was to cut down on bills.
Tomatoes are set to be the most popular crop for this year, closely followed by potatoes, strawberries, carrots, fresh mint, lettuce and apples.
