Furious pro-trans protesters condemn Florida's proposed ban on child sex changes

A transgender protester injected herself to gasps during a meeting where she and others opposed plans to ban so-called gender affirming care for children.

The unnamed woman, who had blue hair and horn-rimmed glasses, declared: ‘I was once a trans youth, and now I’m a happy 22-year-old trans adult… this is my healthcare, don’t tread on it.’

She proudly produced the syringe, then stuck the needle into her arm and pushed the plunger, to an audible gasp from an unseen eyewitness at the hearing in Tallahassee earlier this week.

It’s unclear what was in the syringe, although many transgender people take regular hormones, often intravenously.

Other notable speakers include a person who didn’t share their gender identity, but who said they first considered suicide aged just two. That person told the hearing how they’d gone on to attempt to remove their own breasts aged just 15.

‘By the time I was 15, I attempted to slice my own breasts off,’ they added. ‘I went to the ER because I was bleeding out.’

Florida officials heard numerous claims that blood will be on their hands if they were to support the bill, while several others made connections to Nazi-era Germany.

The scenes occurred during a public hearing with the Florida Senate Committee on Health Policy at the state’s legislature in Tallahassee.

The governing body is considering banning minors from receiving sex-reassignment prescriptions, also known as puberty blockers.

The bill also includes a provision that would give courts in the state jurisdiction to take control of custody of a child to prevent them from receiving sex-reassignment procedures or prescriptions.

This led one of the activists to issue a chilling threat to the committee members, noting that ‘less than a week ago gun law restrictions were loosened.’

‘Anyone who thinks it’s a good idea to come and take my child – I dare you.’

Another protester, who wore a black KN95 facemask, claimed to have grown up in the aftermath of Nazi Germany, despite looking no older than 60.

She likened attempts to ban sex changes for children to the actions of Adolf Hitler, her voice trembling with emotion as she spoke.

‘I grew up in Germany in the aftermath of the Nazis, and what you people are doing is no different. ‘This is transphobic, it is cruel, and you really should be ashamed.’

One young activist took to the lectern to sharply criticize them for even debating the bill, saying: ‘Every time I look at you guys on this committee, I realize more and more that you guys want to commit trans genocide.

‘Our blood is on your hands.’

Another protestor took aim at Florida state senator Clay Yarborough, one of the leaders of Florida’s push to legislate on transgender issues.

She said Yarborough has ‘militarized’ the Florida GOP into a ‘genital gestapo’.

‘Ron DeSantis wants trans people dead,’ she added. ‘You are committing genocide.’

Another of the pro-trans agitators slammed the bill next, and said its potential passage would be tantamount to an ‘act of war’.

After removing their mask, they continued: ‘The way it is, as it is now, my people will die. And that blood, if you support this bill, will be on your hands.’

A 12-year-old non-binary speaker echoed those remarks, feeling that if the legislation comes into effect, then ‘many of us will die’.

Controversy has swirled around the issue of medical intervention for minors in recent years, as many trans youths report that procedures such as puberty blockers can have a beneficial effect on their mental health.

However, others argue that the drugs can be detrimental, including their alleged effects on development and bone health.

For more drastic procedures such as top surgeries, some legislators feel they should be banned for minors and individuals should wait until they are adults to make the decision.
