Johnny Depp Jack Sparrow return in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 hopes soar after latest news

Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow future has been in flux ever since Disney dropped him from the role in 2018, after his ex-wife Amber Heard alleged domestic abuse. The 59-year-old star strongly denied this and despite having lost a libel case in the UK, he won one stateside and now fans are hoping this opens the gateway for him to return in Pirates of the Caribbean 6. After all, the actor had originally hoped to give the much-loved character a proper send-off, as shared during his latest course case.

However, after Disney dropped him from Pirates of the Caribbean 6, Depp said he wouldn’t work with the studio again, even for hundreds of millions of dollars. Of course, time heals and minds can be changed and there’s always a way for him to come back even if it’s not in the next film.

Nevertheless, his friend and producer of the first five Pirates movies, Jerry Bruckheimer, has very recently given a very positive update. And by the sounds of it, he has every intention of getting Jack Sparrow back on the big screen.

Bruckheimer, who has the script being worked on, plus a spin-off starring Margot Robbie, was asked about Pirates of the Caribbean 6 at the Oscars. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the 79-year-old admitted that if it was up to him he’d have Depp back, but it’s Disney who has to be convinced.

On Pirates 6, he said: “We’re all working on it. We’ll see how it comes out. We’re very excited, I think we’re gonna have a great screenplay when, and we’re getting close.” Asked about Depp returning, the producer added: “We’ll see. I would love it. I would love to have him in the movie – that’s all that I can tell you.”

Although Depp has been left frustrated by how Disney dropped him from Pirates 6, he certainly hasn’t forgotten his fans’ love for Jack Sparrow. A couple of fan interaction videos from the last few months have captured the star doing the character’s slurred voice for them.

Meanwhile, he even dressed up as the pirate and played him in a special Make A Wish Foundation video for an 11-year-old child. Additionally, Disney still has cast members at their theme parks who play the character, so it would certainly be in their financial interest to invite Depp back.
