Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is bizarrely obsessed with new arena's toilets as roof is completed

The LA Clippers are on the verge of no longer having to share Crypto.com Arena with the Lakers for home games, as owner Steve Ballmer boasted about his team’s new arena having three times more toilets than the current league average.

Players and officials gathered at the construction site Tuesday to commemorate the last steel beam being installed but the Clippers chief appeared to be more fired up about the arena’s restroom facilities.

Appearing at the nearly-completed Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, on Tuesday, the former Microsoft executive was especially excited for fans no longer having to refrain themselves from using the bathroom when their team is playing down the stretch next season.

‘Toilets!’ Ballmer shouted. ‘1,160 toilets and urinals! Three times the NBA average! We do not want people waiting in line. We want them back to their d*** seats at the end of the half or before the game.’

The 66-year-old, American businessman previously shared that he’s become a ‘real obsessive’ about the number of toilets his team’s new home will have, at the arena’s groundbreaking event back in 2021.

‘Toilets, toilets, toilets!,’ he added.

The Clippers have never won an NBA championship since first coming into the league as the Buffalo Braves, then as the San Diego Clippers, before eventually relocating to the City of Angeles in 1984.

Intuit Dome, which is expected to be completed by 2024, is located near the L.A. Chargers’ SoFi Stadium and is thought to have cost $2billion to build.

In 2019, the Clippers revealed that their new home will be able to accommodate up to 18,000 fans. Seats will be designed by multinational infrastructure consulting firm AECOM.

What’s more is that the arena will include a practice facility, sports medical clinic, team offices, retail space and a large outdoor area with several basketball courts, which fans can play pickup basketball on.

Technology will also be everywhere, such as some that would allow fans to leave their seat, walk to a concession stand in the concourse, grab a beverage or snack and then — if they do as Ballmer hopes — get right back to their seat.

There would be no cashier, nobody to take the order, and the customer’s account would be charged automatically. Other than the paying-for-it part, it would be akin to opening the refrigerator at home, getting a drink and going back to the couch.

After last season, Ballmer revealed that it was finally about time for the Clippers to step out of the Lakers shadow and find their own home, as both teams have shared  Crpyto.com Arena, better known as Staples Center, since 1999.

The arena is primarily associated with the Lakers, where the Purple & Gold have won six championships.

‘We’re nobody’s little brother, we’re a real team,’ Balmer, whose $90billion make him the eighth-richest person on Earth, told ESPN.

‘At the end of the day, we still gotta win games, we gotta win championships. If we can give that to Clipper Nation, and fulfill my responsibility as a steward, then I’ll feel good.’

The Harvard graduate was even seen banking in shots from the arena’s construction site on Tuesday before signing mural with current team players, including stars Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook.

The Clippers currently hold a 34-33 overall record this season and sit as the eighth seed of the Western Conference – the last automatic playoff berth.
