British woman dies after being attacked by abandoned pit bull she rescued in Spain

In the UK, pit bulls are illegal to own, breed, abandon or sell under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

They are one of four breeds that are illegal here. Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Brasileiro are the other breeds banned in the UK.

According to Spanish media, pit bulls and other “potentially dangerous” dogs are responsible for a hike in the number of abandoned dogs.

El Pais reported they are the most abandoned and least adopted dogs in the country.
