Ukraine LIVE: Now Erdogan urges Putin to back down hours after China's 12-point plea

Over 1,100 Ukrainian households have been made homeless in London in the past year after Homes for Ukraine placements ended. Last year, at the start of the war, thousands of Britons agreed to house those fleeing war for a minimum of six months under the Government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme. However, Government figures suggest around 1,141 Ukrainian households have presented as homeless in London, the majority of these with dependent children. Chair of London Councils, Georgia Gould, told the Evening Standard: “Boroughs are working hard to ensure Ukrainian refugees avoid homelessness, but with the conflict continuing and London’s affordable housing shortage as severe as ever this challenge is not going away anytime soon.”

This week, 70 MPS, wrote an open letter to the Department of Housing calling for more funding for Ukrainian resettlement schemes. A government spokesperson said all new arrivals could work and access benefits.
