She gave her petite frame a boost in black patent leather heels  and she carried a funky patterned purse.

Russell’s lustrous brunette hair fell down her back in loose curls and she opted for a natural, yet radiant makeup look.

Cocaine Bear is a film based on the true story of a black bear that died after eating a nearly 200-pound bag of cocaine in 1985.

The bag had apparently been dropped by smuggler Andrew C. Thornton II, who died after his parachute failed following a jump from his airplane.

Russell signed on for the project, which is being distributed by Universal Pictures, in July of 2021.

Development was first announced in 2019, when 21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller agreed to produce the then-unnamed movie.

After getting ahold of the script, Pitch Perfect star Elizabeth Banks agreed to helm the project along with serving as one of its producers.

Much of the cast – which also includes performers such as O’Shea Jackson Jr, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and the late Ray Liotta – was unveiled in early 2021.

Physical production began in Ireland in August of 2021, and filming concluded that October.

Russell spoke about Cocaine Bear during an interview with The Daily Beast, where she expressed that she agreed to work on the project after going through the global pandemic.

‘Since COVID, I haven’t really signed on to anything that intense or serious or sentimental, because I’ve been much more drawn to the light and the fun,’ she said.

The actress also remarked that she saw the project as a way to enjoy herself after experiencing the difficulties of the pandemic.

She recalled: ‘I just thought it was such a crazy, let-loose departure from everything we were experiencing at that moment And I was like, “why the f*** shouldn’t we do Cocaine Bear right now?”

‘I’m always gunning for Oscar nominations, which is why I chose an award-worthy project like Cocaine Bear. I just feel like that award show needs a little spice in its repertoire.’

Cocaine Bear will be released theatrically on Friday, February 24.
