New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: Dear Edward, Harlem Season 2, Murder In Big Horn + More

Dear Edward is a tragic story of loss, survival, and overcoming grief. The Apple TV+ series is the latest project from writer/producer Jason Katims who brought us Friday Night Lights and Parenthood, so he knows a thing or two about making audiences feel things. This story about an orphaned boy will probably rip your heart out, just be warned. For something a little lighter, head over to Prime Video for Harlem‘s second season. The comedy about four friends in New York is finally back, and this season will feature guest appearances from Rick Fox, Sherri Shepherd, Countess Vaughn, and Lil Rel Howery. For the true-crime obsessed, Murder In Big Horn is Showtime’s latest documentary series, and it’s a devastating look at the real-life epidemic of missing young women on Montana’s tribal reservations.

Based on the novel by Ann Napolitano, Apple TV+’s Dear Edward is a new series starring Connie Britton, Taylor Schilling, and Colin O’Brien in the role of Edward, a young boy who is the only survivor of a plane crash. (The book was inspired by the true story of Ruben Van Assouw, a 9-year-old Dutch boy who was the sole survivor of a horrific airplane crash in 2010.) On the show, young Edward goes to live with his aunt, played by Schilling, after the crash, she is the only family he has left, but she’s also wracked with grief over losing her sister and the rest of her family in the crash. The heart-wrenching drama will premiere with three episodes on Friday, and the rest of the season airing weekly on Fridays.

New on Prime Video February 3: Harlem Season 2

Prime Video’s hit TV show Harlem, which co-stars Meagan Good, Grace Byers Jerrie Johnson and Shoniqua Shandai as friends who met as NYU students and are now living uptown in Harlem, first premiered in 2021 and was a huge success. The comed has some serious backers, it’s co-produced by Amy Poehler and Pharrell Williams, and the supporting cast, including Whoopi Goldberg, Jasmine Guy and Andrea Martin, isn’t too shabby either. Season two of Harlem arrives on Prime Video Friday, February 3, with a two-episode premiere, and two episodes will drop weekly after that.

New on Showtime February 3: Murder In Big Horn

Showtime’s Murder In Big Horn is a new documentary focusing on the indigenous people of Big Horn County, Montana and the tragic and often shocking stories of the missing and murdered women of their community. Who is targeting these women and why? It’s a question that’s as old as our country itself, something these tribes have dealt with since colonization, and it’s what this three-part docu-series tries to get to the bottom of with the help of the Native tribal members, journalists and law enforcement who appear in the show.
