Lakers ticket prices soar near $2K as LeBron James closes in on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record… with milestone looking likely to be broken vs. Thunder or Bucks

Ticket prices to potentially see LeBron James break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record are nearing $2,000, with the Lakers star now within just 63 points of the record.

James scored 26 points on Thursday in a 112-111 win over the Pacers, and now looks likely to surpass Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387 mark next week vs. the Thunder or Bucks at home.

Getting into those games is highly expensive at the moment, as the average price to see the Oklahoma City and Milwaukee games respectively is $1,757.81 and $1,931.32, according to SI Tickets.

For context, the Lakers’ only game before the Thunder contest, vs. the Pelicans, has a get-in price as low as $59 according to SeatGeek.

That game is highly unlikely to be the one where James breaks the record barring a herculean effort from the 38-year-old.

Going by the legendary forward’s season averages, it’s (very) slightly optimistic to expect him to break the record in the Thunder game.

James is averaging 30.1 points per contest, and would need to average 31.5 over the next two games to reach the milestone vs. Oklahoma City.

If James somehow fails to reach 63 points over the next three games, or sits one out, tickets for his next game after those at the Warriors are selling for an average price of $1,131.23.

James has also been making progress in another statistical category of late, as he climbed into fourth place on the NBA’s assists list vs. the Knicks on Tuesday.

James had 11 assists in the overtime win and passed both Mark Jackson and Steve Nash on the night.
