Tom Brady 'filmed his retirement video days before his official announcement'…

It seems it took Tom Brady some time to before he was ready to put his retirement announcement out into the public.

The video he dropped on Wednesday morning was filmed at least a day before he put it on social media, although he apparently told the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of his final decision at 6am on Wednesday morning – around two hours before posting his video to the world.

That’s according to ESPN and NFL Network, who claim sources close to Brady say he filmed his retirement announcement video ‘a while ago.’ Furthermore, the Boston Globe says Brady told his parents a week ago that he would retire.

They quoted his father, Tom Brady Snr, as saying: ‘We’re not shocked by any means. He has played football for 32 years out of his 45, living his dream for three-fourths of his life. It’s been a wonderful ride. He’s very secure in his decision.’

NFL Network’s Peter Schrager also tweeted on Wednesday: ‘Per sources close to Brady, the video posted this AM was filmed prior to this morning. Kept this one awfully quiet.’

Schrager expanded on the news on Wednesday’s episode of ‘Good Morning Football.’

‘That was filmed a while ago,’ Schrager said on the show. ‘He was at an L.A. premiere Tuesday night, doing the movie premiere [for ’80 for Brady’].

‘The sun is not up in L.A. as you see there. So that is a taping, that means he has known this and has kept this quiet for at least 48 hours.’

Brady posted the video announcing his retirement early Wednesday, saying: ‘Good morning guys. I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring, for good.

‘I know the process was a pretty big deal last time so when I woke up this morning I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first.’

‘It won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year, so… really, thank you guys so much to every single one of you for supporting me.

‘My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors. I could go over forever, there’s too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. Love you all.’

Brady’s final season ended when him and the Buccaneers were defeated by the Dallas Cowboys 31-14 in the NFL Wild Card round of the playoffs.

Following the game, many felt that his body language and word choice during a press conference were signs of an unofficial goodbye to Tampa. But it was less clear whether it was a farewell to the game itself.

Afterward, some fans called for Brady the Buccaneers to split ways and others speculated that he would instead pursue the chance to chase a championship with a different team.

The Las Vegas Raiders were rumored to be very interested in pursuing his services, while some like ESPN analyst Keyshawn Johnson called the San Francisco 49ers a ‘dream scenario’ for Brady to return home to where he grew up and chase a Super Bowl.

Others pointed out why a shocking move to the New York Jets would make things easier for Brady’s especially considering his family situation.

But it was not that simple a decision for Brady. Two weeks ago on his Let’s Go! podcast he gave a tense reply when Jim Gray asked him what is coming next.

‘Jim, if I knew what I was going to f***ing do, I would’ve already f***ing done it. Ok?,’ Brady emphatically answered. ‘I’m taking it a day at a time.’

Stunned by the seven-time Super Bowl winner’s direct response, Gray replied: ‘I sense you’re antagonized by the question,’ before nervously laughing.

‘You’re scratching…,’ Brady then said before Gray quipped: ‘It’s only the question that everybody wants to hear!’

It is believed that Brady will now transition to the broadcast booth with FOX Sports, with a reported ten-year, $375million contract waiting for him after having perhaps the most decorated career of any player who will ever grace an NFL field.

Just some of Brady’s records include the most passing touchdowns, passing completions, passing yards, and wins for a quarterback.

He’s been named MVP of the league three times and the MVP of the Super Bowl five times – the most of any player.

Brady’s also the greatest playoff quarterback in the sport – with the record for most games started, games won, passing touchdowns, passing yards (in both a playoffs and in a single game).

Last year, Brady’s decision to retire and then unretire appeared to be a cause of his divorce from supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen.

She commented on his Instagram post Wednesday saying: ‘Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life.’

Brady also posted an array of pictures on his Instagram story of his career highlights, including snaps of him celebrating with Bundchen and their children.
