Paramount+ ‘Rabbit Hole’ Series: Trailer, Release Date, What We Know

Many know Kiefer Sutherland for his role as Jack Bauer in the Fox thriller 24, which aired from 2001 to 2010 and again briefly in 2014. Now, Sutherland is returning to his action thriller roots in the brand new series Rabbit Hole, which is set to premiere on Paramount+ this spring.

Sutherland’s last big role was President Tom Kirkman on the ABC/Netflix drama Designated Survivor, which also had some action storylines, but nothing near what we’ve come to expect from the charismatic actor. His new series, Rabbit Hole, centers around a spy named John Weir (Sutherland), master of deception in the world of corporate espionage, who is framed for murder by powerful forces with the ability to influence and control populations as he fights to maintain democracy in an ever-changing world.

What else do we know so far about Rabbit Hole? Here’s everything you need to know about Kiefer Sutherland’s long-awaited return to the action genre for Paramount Plus.

Rabbit Hole Release Date

Rabbit Hole will premiere on Sunday, March 26, 2023. The first two episodes will drop simultaneously, and the remaining episodes will release weekly. The first season is set to consist of eight episodes in total.

The series is filmed in Ontario, Canada, Sutherland’s home country, and where select scenes from his previous series, Designated Survivor, were produced.

How To Watch Rabbit Hole

Rabbit Hole will be available to stream on Paramount+, which is available on Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast, and a variety of supported devices. Paramount+ offers the Essential Plan (available for $4.99/month or $49.99/year) and an ad-free Premium Plan ($9.99/month or $99.99/year), which includes a CBS live stream.

Paramount+ is currently offering a seven-day free trial for eligible subscribers.

What We Know About Rabbit Hole

From the brief description and teaser trailer above, we can already tell this appears to be familiar territory for the 24 leading man. However, while 24 saw Jack Bauer fight terrorists to preserve the safety of the United States, Rabbit Hole looks to place Sutherland on the opposite side of the conflict. This time, those in power seem to want him out of the picture.

We will certainly see some power struggles between Sutherland’s John Weir and those who want him gone. It may also touch on some conspiracy theories based on what we know about the themes of “population control” and “government surveillance” run by mystery forces.

Hailing from creators John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (This is Us), Rabbit Hole is executive produced by Sutherland alongside Requa and Ficarra. Charlie Gogolak, Hunt Baldwin, and Suzan Bymel also executive produce. CBS Studios will handle production, and Paramount Global Content Distribution will distribute the show.

Rabbit Hole Cast

We already know that Kiefer Sutherland will be starring as John Weir, but who else will be in Rabbit Hole?

The cast continues with:

  • Rob Yang as a high-ranking bureaucrat who gets caught up in a secret plot that could potentially alter the entire world

  • Charles Dance as Dr. Ben Wilson
