NFL rescinds suspensions for Broncos' Gregory and Rams' Aboushi for fight in Denver loss to Rams

NFL rescinds suspensions for Broncos’ Randy Gregory and Rams’ Oday Aboushi with Denver linebacker fined $50,000 and LA’s offensive guard given $12,000 fine for throwing punches

The National Football League have decided Tuesday to rescind suspensions handed out to Denver’s Randy Gregory and the Rams’ Oday Aboushi, instead issuing fines.

Just yesterday the two were handed one-game bans ruling them out of games vs. Kansas City and LA (Chargers).

Now, Gregory will receive a $50,000 for instigating the fight captured on video, while Aboushi has been issued with a $12,000 reprimand.

At the end of the Broncos humiliating 51-14 Christmas Day hiding, Gregory was caught swinging a punch at Rams guard Aboushi, before taking one himself.

It is unclear what sparked the melee at the end of the game at SoFi Stadium, but it appears the two exchanged heated words, before Gregory’s frustration got the better of him and he saw red.

Just hours after the video surfaced on social media, the NFL released a statement confirming both players would be suspended without pay for one game for violations of unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness rules.

Letters were sent to Gregory and Aboushi in which NFL VP of football operations Jon Runyan told them; ‘as you were walking toward a group of teammates, coaches, and media, you both stopped and swung at each other’s head and/or neck.

‘Your aggressive conduct could have caused serious injury and clearly does not reflect the high standards of sportsmanship expected of a professional.’

Gregory wasn’t the only Bronco involved in a skirmish as tempers flared amid one of the most insipid Denver performances in recent history.

Backup quarterback Brett Rypien was shoved by his own teammate, guard Dalton Risner, after an argument stemmed from Rypien’s unhappiness at the O-line for not helping Russell Wilson up after multiple sacks.
