Ben Foster has unleashed a brutal rant toward the celebrity chef known as ‘Salt Bae’ after he gatecrashed the 2022 World Cup closing ceremony last Sunday. Nusret Gokce ruffled feathers by harassing Argentina captain Lionel Messi for a photo and breaking FIFA rules by holding the World Cup trophy.
The Turkish chef went viral years ago for how he sprinkled salt onto his steaks at his upper-class restaurants. And his fame ultimately earned him a VVIP wristband and accreditation for the World Cup final, allowing him access to all areas as Argentina beat France to clinch their third crown in Qatar. However, Salt Bae got too close for comfort.
He has attracted mass criticism for his behaviour toward Argentina’s players and the prestigious World Cup trophy. Among those shaming Gokce is former Premier League star Foster, who touted his actions as ‘horrible’. In a TikTok clip, he said: “The real winner of the chump s**thouse of the tournament has to go to Salt Bae. Has to go to Salt Bae, right?
“So, this guy… you must be aware of this guy. You know the salt guy, right? So after the full-time whistle, he makes his way onto the pitch, starts parading around, and he’s trying to do a Salt Bae [famous pose] on top of the World Cup. Eurgh, horrible.

“But the worst one of all of it, right… Messi has just walked down, and he sees this Salt Bae guy. Messi turns and goes, ‘You alright?’ By the way, Salt Bae is like grabbing his arm to say hello. ‘Say hello to me, say hello to me.’ Messi turns around and goes, ‘Yep, yep, cool.’ He carries on grabbing his arm!”
Foster continued by blasting Salt Bae’s behaviour, labelling him a ‘weasel’ and slamming the ‘extortionate’ price of the ‘average’ steak from which he earned him fame and fortune.

“You can see Messi’s p****d off with it. He’s like, ‘Get off me, you little weasel.’ It is disgusting, yeah. So, Salt Bae, your prices are extortionate, your steak is bang average, I’ll guarantee I cook a better steak, and you’re an absolute weasel. Don’t do that, alright?” Foster concluded.
On the back of his comments, the retired goalkeeper is unlikely to be welcome in one of Salt Bae’s restaurants any time soon. But it’s not like he will be interested in returning anyway, judging by his scathing review of the chef’s famed gold-wrapped meat.
