Sally Nugent gobsmacked by BBC co-star's online dating admission: 'Don't tell my husband'

BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent could not contain her laughter after her colleague Nina Warhurst opened up about her online dating history on Monday’s instalment of the news programme. Nina was explaining how she has been caught out by auto-renewal subscriptions in the past following some “horrific” dates with men she met on an online dating website which left Sally gobsmacked.

Nina, 42, was discussing the cost of subscriptions to online services affecting people across the country.

She explained people are calling for the government to make sure users are notified about when their subscriptions need to be renewed.

“People are saying that auto-renewals should be banned,” Nina said. “You’ve probably done it at some point if you have rolled over on a freebie.

“I was caught out on a dating site – before I met my husband!”

An intrigued Sally said: “Go on, go on, please tell us more. You went on a dating site?”

Nina said she was subscribed to a dating site and “went on a horrific date” before she gave up on the site.

A stunned Sally joked: “Well there’s the headline for this morning.”

“I went on some horrific dates, tried to come off it, and went on my bank account a few months later and the money was still coming out,” Nina explained.

“Nina, thank you, you’ve made my day,” Sally chuckled before Jon teased he was going to provide more updates about Nina’s life later on in the show.

Viewers took to Twitter in light of Nina’s admission, with Auld Bryan quipping: “#BBCbreakfast I knew I’d seen Northern Nina somewhere before… Match.com.” (sic)

Meanwhile, @Suffolkboy5 penned: “Auto-renewal should be made illegal in all circumstances.

“It is designed to ‘trick’ you into paying for something that you might well not need or want. Send renewal notices in good time and let the consumer decide.”
