UFC temporarily BANS fighters who choose to stay associated with suspended coach James Krause amid probe into suspicious betting on Darrick Minner’s TKO defeat

The UFC announced Friday that fighters who remain with coach James Krause will be temporarily banned from the organization during an investigation into suspicious betting regarding one of his fighters.

UFC is investigating the circumstances of a November 5 fight between Darrick Minner (coached by Krause) and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke.

The organization said it was ‘informed by sources that suspicious betting patterns had been observed on the fight.’

According to ESPN, odds favoring Nuerdanbieke to win moved dramatically in the hours leading up to the fight, as multiple sportsbooks reportedly received betting interest for the fight to last under 2.5 rounds and for Nuerdanbieke to win by first-round knockout.

Nuerdanbieke won by TKO at 1:07 in the first round.

While Krause was suspended and Minner has been released from UFC, the organization still plans to punish fighters who associate with Krause moving forward.

‘UFC has since advised Krause and the respective managers working with impacted fighters, that effective immediately, fighters who choose to continue to be coached by Krause or who continue to train in his gym, will not be permitted to participate in UFC events pending the outcome of the aforementioned government investigations,’ they said in a statement.

‘Along with the safety and health of its fighters, UFC believes there is no more important component of professional mixed martial arts than the integrity of the sport.’

Krause was suspended Nov. 18 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
