'Hi mum… it's beautiful': Video missing Levi Davis sent his mother is revealed

A video message sent by rugby star Levi Davis to his mother on the day he went missing nearly five weeks ago has been revealed.

In the footage, Davis is on a ferry from Ibiza to Barcelona on October 29 and despite the heavy wind can be heard saying: ‘Hi mum… it’s beautiful.’

Levi, 24, had made the seven-hour ferry journey to Barcelona and arrived there at 7pm after visiting a friend in Ibiza for a week. Mr Davis, a former Bath winger, had been suffering depression and went to Europe to take some time out after a knee injury which sidelined him from rugby.

The 24-year-old paid a visit to the Old Irish pub on La Rambla and was seen leaving on CCTV at 10pm- his family have not seen or heard from him since and the search continues.

In the weeks after his disappearance, there have been some possible sightings of Levi but none have been confirmed as him.

Last month, a witness contacted the rugby star’s family to claim that they had seen him in Placa Sant Agusti Vell in Barcelona.

It is believed that the same witness placed him in another square near the city’s Arc de Triomf monument behind La Bouqueria a week earlier. The market is a six-minute walk away from the Old Irish Pub Levi was seen leaving on October 29.

Also, almost two weeks ago, his passport was found at the port area in Barcelona as the Spanish police’s investigation continues.

His mother Julie told the BBC that since Levi’s passport was found, no more information has been given to them and she wants more detail.

She described the weeks since his disappearance as the scariest time of her life and an emotional whirlwind.

It comes after Julie last month went to Barcelona with his brother Nathan to search for him and confirmed that he had left Ibiza with just 40 Euros in cash.

Police told her that he had not used his phone or either of his two bank cards in the fortnight after he went missing.

Officers also told her that his phone signal was last picked up around Sants, Barcelona’s main train station, late on the evening of October 29.

Speaking about his mental health, Julie said that the 24-year-old was open with his family and said that he needed the time to himself as the injury and struggles had taken a toll on him.

His friend Tom Varndell, a former England rugby player, said that he had been trying to deal with things more by himself in recent months instead of going to seek help or ask for support.

Previously, footage from the night Mr Davis disappeared showed him leaving the Old Irish Pub on the bustling La Rambla street on October 29.

He went to the pub at around 9.30pm and stayed for 35 minutes, seen leaving with a black rucksack on and wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, black trousers and black and white trainers.

The 24-year-old had got a pint of Heineken and seen the Liverpool vs Leeds game on television, according to the barmaid who served him.

Levi was in Barcelona for three hours before he vanished.

He also sent a video message to his mother of a singer performing at the Irish pub on the evening he disappeared. He wrote ‘Arrived Mom’ and a prayer emoji.

Julie Davis, who visited the bar as she searched for her son last month, said: ‘Every day that Levi is missing makes the pain and heartache worse, we just want to know he is safe.

‘It’s every mum’s worst nightmare. People tell you to always value a hug or a kiss as you don’t if it’ll be the last, I never used to understand that but I get it now.’

She said that Levi told her he was hoping to travel around Europe and then go to France and see some of his friends.

Julie urged her son to come home and said all of his family are missing him and can help him together.
