‘So impressed!’ ‘Fastest’ way to remove mould from window frames with 99p ‘magic’ spray

If a home does not have a continuous supply of fresh air into it the relative humidity rises, and the internal atmosphere quickly becomes full of airborne moisture. Eventually this build up of water in the air leads to condensation forming on the colder surfaces of a property including window frames. This condensation moisture is pure water which mould just loves to grow on. Luckily, there is a “fast” way to get rid of mould on window frames, according to Mrs Hinch fans.

Taking to a Mrs Hinch inspired cleaning page, one woman wanted to know how to get rid of black mould around windows. Gillian Fulcher wrote: “What’s the best way to get black mould off window frames?”

Mould on window frames is one of the common places to find mould in a home. This is because windows are relatively colder compared to the rest of the room leading to condensation forming on the window pane.

Water running down window glass is a very common sight in bedrooms first thing in the morning.

The mould will typically be found on the frame around the glass and it seems to love the rubber seals around uPVC.

Samantha Tibet wrote: “Astonish’s mould spray worked wonders for me. I used it on my window frames and shower curtain and the mould disappeared.”

Avril Dean said: “I agree with others. Astonish Mould & Mildew Blaster is brilliant at removing mould.”

Kirsty Baxter added: “Astonish mould spray is a must for anyone struggling with mould issues around their home. I love the stuff.”

As well as picking up the Astonish Mould & Mildew Blaster spray from Wilko, the mould remover is also sold at Asda for 99p and at Morrisons for £1.25.

Other Mrs Hinch fans opted for the more natural route of using either washing up liquid, baking soda or white vinegar.

Susan Batty said: “Just a daily wipe over with warm water and washing up liquid and a cloth to dry it up with. It’s a daily task to keep on top, especially now as people are not having heating on as much.”

Haley Gibbons commented: “soak a rag or paper towel in white vinegar and let it sit on it for at least an hour. It kills it and should wipe off after.”

Lindsey Parker added: “Spray on vinegar then sprinkle with baking soda afterwards and wipe with kitchen roll.”
