Nate Diaz manager lifts lid on Conor McGregor trilogy plans after UFC release

Nate Diaz’s manager Zach Rosenfield has revealed that the Stockton brawler is still pushing for a trilogy with Conor McGregor. According to Rosenfield, Diaz is in for an active 2023 including a stint in boxing after being officially released from his UFC contract.

Diaz recently chose to break ties with the promotion after a turbulent few years under their banner. In the lead-up to his final fight on his contract at UFC 279 against Tony Ferguson, Diaz asked for his release several times and reiterated that he had no intention of re-signing with the MMA giants.

But according to Rosenfield, there have been “good discussions on options” between Diaz’s team and UFC executives, although he wouldn’t go into any specifics.

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Rosenfield gave MMA fans a glimpse into Diaz’s future which could include a third fight against his old rival, McGregor. “Nate is going to be looking at the biggest fights possible,” Rosenfield said. “He has stated that completing the trilogy with Conor McGregor is something that interests him, and that has not changed.

However, Diaz was kicked out of the venue before the main event started after slapping a member of Paul’s entourage. Following the incident, Paul called out Diaz during his post-fight press conference.

“Nate Diaz was here acting like a b***h. Everyone wants that fight. He tried to fight people in the hallway. Nate, stop fighting people for free,” he said.

“Let’s do it in the ring, okay? I know you’re a little slow, buddy. But we can make that fight happen. It’s typical of him. That’s what he likes to do. He’s a street gangster. He likes to act tough and he’s really not. Why are you trying to beat someone up in the hallway?”

After Diaz became a free agent earlier this week, Paul doubled down on his challenge, tweeting: “Hi Nate. Finally out of your UFC contract? Let’s see how tough you are in the boxing ring instead of hallway slap contests. @NateDiaz209 I have a venue booked. Offer is ready when you are. Just need you to sign.”
