Cristiano Ronaldo recalls ‘worst moment’ telling kids about baby brother’s death

Cristiano Ronaldo was “upfront” and “honest” with his children after his and Georgina Rodríguez’s son died during childbirth in April.

When the couple brought the late infant’s twin sister, Bella, home, the little ones had questions, the athlete told Piers Morgan in The Sun’s sneak peek of his upcoming TalkTV interview.

“The kids start[ed] to say, ‘Where’s the other baby, where’s the other baby? … Mom, where is the other baby?’” the soccer player recalled on Tuesday’s clip, which will air Wednesday and Thursday.

“After one week I [said], ‘Let’s be upfront, and let’s be honest with the kids. Let’s say that, Ángel, which is his name, he go to the Heaven,’” Ronaldo continued.

Cristiano Jr., 12, and his 5-year-old siblings — Alana, Eva and Mateo — now “understand” that their baby brother died.

“They say, ‘Daddy I did this for Ángel,’ and they point to the sky,” the Manchester United player explained. “Which I like the most because he’s part of their lives. I am not gonna lie to my kids, I say the truth, which was a difficult process.”

Ronaldo went on to call that time period the “worst moment” of his life since his father’s 2005 passing, saying he has never felt so “happy and sad in the same moment.”

He called the grieving process “hard to explain,” adding, “We had quite difficult moments because we don’t understand why it happened to us.”

Ronaldo and Rodríguez revealed in October 2021 that they were expecting twin babies.

“Our hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you ❤️🏠 #blessed,” the model, 28, told her Instagram followers at the time.

Six months later, the pair were “devastated” by the loss of their son.

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away,” the duo wrote in April. “It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.

“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness,” they concluded. “Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
