Carlo Ancelotti teases Luka Modric for his HORRENDOUS miss in Real Madrid's win over Cadiz

‘I told him he’s lucky the Croatia squad has already been announced!’: Carlo Ancelotti teases Luka Modric for his HORRENDOUS miss in Real Madrid’s win over Cadiz – after the midfielder somehow missed an open goal

  • Real Madrid beat Cadiz 2-1 in in the Spanish top flight on Thursday evening
  • Luka Modric missed an open goal from four yards to score a third for his side
  • Carlo Ancelotti saw the funny side when asked about it after the game

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti gave an amusing response when asked about Luka Modric’s glaring miss on Thursday night, joking that he was lucky that Croatia had already announced their World Cup squad.

Modric had a moment to forget with his side 2-0 as Vinicius Jr made his way into the box on the left and rolled the ball across goal.

The Croatian was there to meet it with the goal gaping and the keeper out of the picture but somehow managed to put the ball wide from four yards.

He looked like he wanted the ground to open up as he lay with his face down on the grass, contemplating what had just happened.

Fortunately for him it didn’t cost his side as they saw out a 2-1 victory.

And boss Ancelotti clearly saw the funny side when he was asked about it following the game.

‘I told him that luckily the call for Croatia is already made and he has no problems,’ he said.

Modric will captain his side in Qatar, having led them to the final back in 2018.
