A suspect has been charged in the grisly slaying of his girlfriend six weeks after her dismembered remains were found stuffed in two different suitcases with a meat cleaver alongside it, in her Brooklyn home, officials said.

Justin Williams, 24, was charged on Monday with murder and concealment of a human corpse in the savage slaying of 22-year-old D’Asia Johnson, the NYPD said, per the The New York Daily News. 

Cops tracked Williams down and arrested him on October 1 on an unrelated assault, grand larceny and bail jumping in Nassau County, officials said.

As Williams remained behind bars he was a person of interest in Johnson’s brutal murder, according to Nassau County Assistant District Attorney Brittany Gurrieri.

During a court appearance, it was revealed that Williams’ had another girlfriend who had been using the victim’s benefits card after her death. 

On September 21, police discovered Johnson’s decomposed remains in the bathroom of her apartment on Linwood Street near Atlantic Avenue in the Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn.

An autopsy later revealed she had died of multiple stab wounds to her torso, the news outlet reported.

Months leading up to the heinous crime, neighbors said that Williams would often beat Johnson in the hallway.

‘He broke her ribs, her legs, a couple months ago. She came back on crutches, Stephanie Harris said, The Daily News reported.

Harris said she cried to Johnson trying to warn her about Williams and told her, ‘Listen, I don’t want to see you on the news.’
