Phillies belt three homers to grab early lead in Game 3 of World Series

The Philadelphia Phillies are putting on an early power show in Tuesday night’s Game 3 against the Astros at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies, who have been an offensive juggernaut at home during their postseason run, already have belted three home runs off Lance McCullers Jr. to grab an early 4-0 lead after four innings in Game 3.

It was the first time in World Series history at team hit three home runs in the first two innings of a game, according to USA TODAY Sports’ Bob Nightengale.

Bryce Harper started off the festivities by belting a two-run homer over the right field wall, driving in Kyle Schwarber, in the first inning to give the Phillies a quick 2-0 lead. The blast traveled 402 feet. It was the sixth homer in the postseason for Harper.

In the second inning, the Phillies belted two more homers, both solo shots. First, Alec Bohm hit a homer to left that traveled 373 feet and Brandon Marsh, the No. 9 hitter, followed that up with a shot that went 358 feet over the right field wall.

Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez held the Astros scoreless through the first four innings. The best-of-seven World Series is currently tied at a game apiece.
