No one wins Powerball jackpot; top prize grows to estimated $800M

There is no lucky ticket holder in Wednesday’s huge Powerball drawing, and the jackpot has grown to an estimated $800 million, game officials said.

The jackpot had been around $700 million going into Wednesday night’s drawing, but no one matched all five numbers of 19-36-37-46-56, as well as the Powerball, 24, it said on its website.

The next drawing is Saturday, when the jackpot is estimated to be $800 million — the second highest in the history of the game, according to Powerball officials.

The largest ever was the $1.586 billion jackpot won in 2016.

The odds of winning a jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, which are longer than the chance of being struck by lightning in the U.S. in any given year. That number is 1 in around 1.2 million, according to the National Weather Service.

No one has won Powerball’s jackpot since Aug. 3.
