From Scratch has just arrived on Netflix and it follows an artist who finds romance with a chef in Italy. She embarks on a life-changing journey of love and loss when their two families come together. Here’s all you need to know about who is in the cast.
Who is in From Scratch?
Amy – Zoe Saldaña
Amy is a student from the US who is studying in Italy, where she falls in love with a Sicilian chef.
The main character is played by Zoe Saldaña, a 44-year-old American actress known for her theatre roles.
Her film career came later when she started in Center Stage as a ballet dancer.
More recently she is known for playing Gamora in Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.
She took to Instagram to show fans a behind-the-scenes look at her latest venture, From Scratch.
She said: “So beyond thankful to have been part of this beautiful production and so excited to share #FromScratch with you all.”
Lino – Eugenio Mastrandrea
Lino is the chef Amy falls for and when he faces health issues, the couple starts to fear for their future.
He is played by Eugenio Mastrandrea, who has previously starred as Marcello Favini in the series La fuggitiva.
His other credits include Carlo & Malik, and the project A.C.A.B.

Zora – Danielle Deadwyler
Zora is played by Danielle Deadwyler, a 40-year-old American actress and writer.
She is best known for her film roles, having starred in The Harder They Fall and Till.
The star may also be recognised as playing LaQuita “Quita” Maxwell in the Oprah Winfrey soap, The Haves and the Have Nots.
Hershel – Keith David
Hershel is played by Keith David, a 66-year-old American actor who has had more than 300 roles.
The star is known for his award-winning voiceover work, as well as his roles in Community and Greenleaf.
Biagia – Roberta Rigano
Biagia is played by Roberta Rigano, an actress known for the series I Know This Much Is True and Un passo dal cielo.
She took to Instagram to thank the cast and crew for their work on her latest project, From Scratch.
The recurring cast includes Terrell Carter as Ken, Medalion Rahimi as Laila, Jonathan Del Arco as David and Peter Mendoza as Andreas.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo Pozzan stars as Filippo, with Jonathan D. King as Silvio and Saad Siddiqui as Dr Atluri.
From Scratch is on Netflix from October 21.
