Hell Freezes Over as Alyssa Farah Griffin Sides With Bernie Sanders on ‘The View’: “I Actually Agree”

Alyssa Farah Griffin has repeatedly denounced her former boss, Donald Trump, but she strayed one dramatic step further from her party on today’s episode of The View when she aligned herself with democratic socialist Bernie Sanders.

Yes, Griffin — who identifies as a libertarian on certain issues and often clashes with her more liberal co-hosts while discussing political topics — firmly agreed with the Vermont senator while contributing to today’s Hot Topics discussion about the migrant crisis.

While discussing Vice President Kamala Harris’ appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, in which she decried the “political theater” of moving migrants from one state to another, Griffin scoffed at Harris’ calls for a “solution” to the issue of immigration.

“I personally think that for the Biden-Harris administration to say that, you know, we need to see leadership on the issue of border security and the crisis of immigration in this country is kind of rich because they have not tried to solve the problem,” Griffin began.

She continued, “Any of the polls you see, this is a top issue for many, many border states that have dealt with the issue as it stands right now … she’s been tasked with overseeing this. The issue has not gotten better. She’s gone down to the border, but not to where the largest issues are in the Rio Grande Valley.

“And [Harris] was in Texas just this past weekend at a fundraiser. So that is a vulnerability that they have and they’re not doing enough to address it,” she said, before dropping a bomb on her co-hosts: “I actually agree — I believe it was Bernie Sanders who said democrats need to focus more on issues like the economy, inflation and rising crime, not just make the election about abortion.”

Griffin was referring to Sanders’ recent comments in which he said democrats need to expand their platforms going into the midterms.

The former presidential candidate wrote an op-ed for The Guardian which read, in part, “while the abortion issue must remain on the front burner, it would be political malpractice for Democrats to ignore the state of the economy and allow Republican lies and distortions to go unanswered.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC. Hear Griffin’s comments in full in the video above.
