'Ambulance called' as horror movie makes cinemagoers 'collapse' – 'Puked in my popcorn'

Later this month, Terrifier 2 is due to hit the UK on DVD and Blu-ray, but it has already wreaked havoc throughout picture houses in the USA and across various film festivals. And things are reportedly getting out of hand at some screenings, as viewers have claimed they “vomited” and “passed out” at the movie’s stomach-churning scenes.

Terrifier 2 is a direct follow-on from 2016’s Terrifier, and continues the story of Art the Clown, a gruesome, supernatural clown who haunts teenagers and unsuspecting victims.

One Twitter user posted an image of a Terrifier 2 vomit bag that they were handed at a film festival to combat its disgusting scenes.

The small paper bag was adorned with a ghastly image of Art the Clown, with a large red WARNING sign on it. The bag also read: “Warning, this vomit bag is being provided due to the extreme violence and excessive gore of this feature … guaranteed to cause gastrointestinal upset.”

Some reports online have described viewers throwing up while watching the movie due to its extreme use of gore.

One Twitter user wrote: “I saw #Terrifier2 and screamed and vomited and s*****d and cried and fainted all at the same.” (sic)

Another added: “#Terrifier2 my friend passed out and the theater called an ambulance. Highly recommended.”

Another said: “If you were planning on seeing Terrifier 2 I’m gonna warn you all now it’s the goriest film I’ve seen since probably Hostile. If you don’t like really detailed visceral fatalities I’d avoid it.”

“Terrifier 2 is so gory I puked in my popcorn,” another added.

A film critic said: “This exceeds the first film in almost every way, as the kills are brutal, the characters are more interesting, and viewers will learn quite a bit more about Art the Clown. The thrills make it engaging from start to finish.”

The film’s bosses have frequently been warning his fans about how intense Terrifier 2 is.

Terrifier’s producer, Steve Barton, recently posted an image on his social media account that read: “WARNING This movie contains scenes of graphic violence and brutal depictions of horror. Viewers who are faint of heart, prone to light headedness or have weak stomachs are advised to take extreme caution. There have already been numerous instances of fainting and vomiting in theaters. For those choosing to continue, you’ve been warned…” (sic)

Even more worrying is that the movie’s director, Damien Leone, recently revealed he did not go as far as he wanted to in the movie.

Leone told ComingSoon: “Believe it or not, there is a line. What you see, at the end of the day, I’ve imagined where it can go five times worse. I thought of taking it to a much worse place, but I was afraid of really ostracising the audience. I know this gore is too extreme for some people, but it could also be way worse.”

Not all of the responses to Terrifier 2 have been overwhelmingly positive, however.

One person wrote on Twitter: “killing every reviewer that gave terrifier 2 a good score, movie was f*****g boring half the time.” (sic)

Another agreed: “Terrifier 2 was disappointing ngl.” (sic)

One critic even called the picture “a tedious, uninspired, and exhausting experience that bombards the audience with relentless violence, depravity, and gore”.

It added: “At 2 hours and 18 minutes, it’s overkill – pun intended.”

Terrifier 2 is due for home release on October 24, 2022.
