The brother of murdered JonBenét Ramsey has slammed Boulder cops for having a ‘lack of passion’ while searching for a teenage girl who vanished from a school football game – claiming they are showing the same ‘apathy’ as they did towards his sister’s case.
Chloe Campbell, 14, disappeared on September 30 after being spotted at a Boulder High School football game, in Colorado, and was last seen by witnesses looking ‘intoxicated’ on Boulder Creek Trail.
Her family are begging her friends to come forward with more information after she vanished and was last seen with two ‘older sketchy men’ ten days ago.
Chloe’s parents, David Campbell and Dr Jessica Knape Romo, reported her missing the night she disappeared but it took police until October 8 – eight days later – to urge anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward.
Boulder Police have been criticized for branding the teenager as a ‘runaway’ despite there being no indication that has fled her home in the past – now appealing to say she might be ‘in danger’ but say that the case doesn’t ‘meet the criteria for the issuance of an Amber Alert.’
Officers from the police department also headed up the investigation into the slaying of JonBenét Ramsey in 1996, with no one ever being charged in the case despite her death being ruled as a murder.
The pageant queen’s half-brother, John Andrew Ramsey, slammed them for showing the same ‘apathy’ towards Chloe’s disappearance as they did his sisters’ murder – saying the department just ‘shrugs their shoulders’.

Speaking to DailyMail.com he said: ‘Any parent out there can’t fathom not knowing where your child is for 8 minutes or eight hours not even to mention eight days of not knowing where your child is, is just maddening.
‘They have a police department shrugs their shoulders, saying there is nothing we can do, it’s incomprehensible.
‘I think the emphasis should be on getting her home and then a deep dive into the delay and inaction by the Boulder Police Department. But in the immediate, let’s find this kid, get her home to her parents, then ask serious questions.
‘It’s a lack of passion and heart, that’s what we’ve been up against, apathy and you see it playing out here in the Chloe Campbell case, it is the same thing we were up against. Where is the passion?’
JonBenét, 6, was found dead in the basement of her family’s Boulder home on December 26, 1996, bludgeoned and strangled, several hours after her mother Patsy Ramsey called 911 to say her daughter was missing and a ransom note had been left behind.
Boulder Police were accused of a series of errors while investigating the crime, and last year marked the 25th anniversary by stating they are looking into ‘genetic DNA testing processes to see if they can be applied to this case moving forward’ and are working closely with state investigators on ‘future DNA advancements.’
However, her family petitioned the Colorado Governor earlier this year to allow an independent agency rather than BPD, to conduct the DNA testing on items which haven’t yet undergone the procedure.
John Ramsey initially tweeted his anger at the police for a lack of action in Chloe’s case, writing: ‘Damnit Boulder get off you’re a** and find this child!’
Speaking to DailyMail.com he added: ‘It’s troubling to say the least. You got a missing child a case like this, you know the goal is to raise awareness and get her picture out there and you know as best you can.
‘I’m sure her family have got their hands full they’re doing a good job there in a precarious position where they’re traying to spur the police into action without angering the police.
‘I don’t know the specifics of what qualifies an Amber Alert but what’s troubling is that the police should be front and center out in front of the cameras right now with pic of Chloe Campbell to amplify this message.
‘We live in a digital age information travel very very fast, this is not the time to hold up in their bunker and to stay quiet get the word out lets find this kids.
‘To have a young child that has been away from her parents no phone and no money for going on ten days it’s a really really dangerous situation.
‘There is more they can be doing, the sky is the limit, to me its amplified this message use the power of the media to your advantage get the word out that she’s missing
‘This is not a time to be holding back information. Use the technology to your advantage, anything from security footage available to facial recognition software could aid in the investigation.’

Several friends have reportedly received messages from the missing teenager, but her parents say they have come from social media accounts that they are unfamiliar with
Since her disappearance, Chloe’s parents say they were showed an ominous photo, sent to one of her friends, from an anonymous Snapchat account claiming to be their daughter.
The image proved that she is alive, but they say she looked ‘injured and unwell’ and believe it was sent by ‘a third-party’.
On Monday morning, Chloe’s parents said they were ‘relieved’ police are ‘finally taking this case seriously’ adding that they fear she may have been trafficked and is being held against her will – and have received multiple tips that their daughter is currently 600 miles away in Arizona.
Her father David said: ‘We want to make clear that we do not have any family in Arizona so this is very suspicious to us.’
The anonymous Snapchat is the only communication the family have received, from someone they believe is a ‘third party’ pretending to be their daughter – adding that the profile ‘could be anybody.’
The name on the account is not one they are familiar with and it is unclear when they received the message.
Several friends have also apparently received messaged from the missing girl, with communications on Snapchat vanishing immediately after they are opened.
Her parents fear that her friends or other young teenagers are keeping information from authorities out of fear for their own safety.
Dr Jessica Knape Romo, her mother, and David, have hired private investigators to look into the whereabouts of their daughter.
They added that their daughter has several underlying physical and mental health conditions, which she has not been able to take her medication for.
In a statement they said: ‘After 10 days, our beloved 14 year old daughter, Chloe Campbell, is still missing.
‘While we are grateful that the Boulder Police Department and news sources are finally taking this case seriously, broadening the call for help and legitimizing the situation, we remain gravely concerned that she may be being trafficked and is not able to voluntarily come home.
‘We have no credible communication from Chloe herself in 10 full days, and we believe there are still friends who know more than they have shared with law enforcement.
‘We are working closely with law enforcement agencies and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to bring Chloe home.’
Chloe’s family believe that other teenagers are keeping quiet over fears for their own safety, and claim they have been told she has been taken more than 600 miles away to Arizona
Her mother added that she may be with one or several people who are men or older boys who could be ‘involved with drug dealing and who may have violent criminal records.’
Dr Knape said: ‘We believe there may be other kids who know where she is or how to reach her, but they are not sharing this information with the family or law enforcement.
‘There is some evidence that they are withholding information out of fear for their own safety.
‘Because Chloe’s case was initially designated as ‘runaway’ and not ‘missing’, law enforcement and school authorities have downplayed the critical nature of the case, which has caused much angst.
‘We are working collaboratively with the authorities to get the case the proper designation and we have retained a private investigator in the interim to continue investigating leads.’
Speaking to Fox News, her father David added: ‘Chloe never came home and we became very concerned, started investigating, and found that she was last seen with two older men.

‘She was described by eyewitnesses as being with two men. Older men. Too old to be in high school. One of whom was Asian and the other who had a beard.
‘This was around lunchtime at Boulder High and also a football game, these two men are described as being sketchy.
‘We have had multiple tips from various parties claiming that they have knowledge that Chloe is in Arizona, that she is ‘safe’ and ‘has money’ and is with a ‘family’ in Arizona.
‘The pushback that we got from both Boulder High and Boulder police saying hey it’s no big deal she’s just a runaway was frustrating, but we never stopped investigating.’

In a statement Boulder Police confirmed that no one has spoken to Chloe since September 30, ten days ago.
They added: ‘Investigators have received some information from friends who appear to have been in contact with Chloe, and there have been a few reported sightings of her in and around the Boulder area.
‘However, no one in her family has spoken with Chloe since September 30.

Boulder Police are now calling for anyone with information about the missing schoolgirl to come forward, saying she might be ‘in danger’ despite initially dismissing the case as a ‘runaway’
‘Friends have received messages that they believe could be from Chloe saying she is safe with a ‘family’ in Arizona and does not want to return home, but family and police have been unable to confirm if these messages are, in fact, from Chloe or true.
‘This case presently does not meet the criteria for the issuance of an Amber Alert, but investigators are growing increasingly concerned about the teen’s safety as it is believed that she has no access to money or her medication. She may be with an adult male.
‘Chloe’s loved ones have posted fliers around town, and police are hoping that amplifying this message will help in reuniting the child with her family.
‘Chloe’s family wants Chloe to know that they just want her home safe and that she is not in trouble.’
A statement from Boulder High School added: ‘We have been in close contact with the Boulder Police Department, as they have been investigating a missing BVSD student from Boulder High School who failed to come home after last Friday’s Boulder High vs. Fairview football game (on September 30).
‘While they have classified the case as a runaway, they are now indicating that the student may be in danger, which is why we are reaching out to share the information with our community.
‘Please see the information below from the Boulder Police Department website and if you have any information, please contact Detective Cody Hartkopp with the Boulder Police Department at 303-441-3330.’
