Outlander star weighs in on a return to series

Wreck sees Kennedy portraying Jamie, who goes undercover on a luxury cruise liner as he tries to discover the truth about his sister’s death on board the vessel.

Little does Jamie know the danger he’s in with a killer dressed in a fluffy duck costume, who is savagely bumping off people.

The series has been created by Ryan J. Brown, who wanted to create an irreverent horror-comedy given the dearth of such programmes on British television, with the show nodding to the likes of Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and other American teen slasher flicks which fall into the same vein.

Speaking about what attracted him to Wreck, Kennedy said: “Just how different it is and Ryan J. Brown’s writing. He has a mind like no one else. He has a way of creating this rich and full characters in this crazy, strange environment, and situation and he manages to marry those two things so well. You kind of forget that there’s a murderous duck on a ship killing people.

“When that’s going on, you’re like, ‘Oh my god, there’s a murderous duck killing people’. But when you’re with these characters that are interacting with each other and having these real conversations with each other, it’s so easy to get lost in them and get invested in these characters and that’s the appeal.”

Wreck will be airing on BBC Three on Sundays at 10pm

Outlander season 7 is in production and seasons 1 to 6 are streaming on Lionsgate+
