Fan arrested outside Anfield after clashing with police ahead of Champions League fixture between Liverpool and Rangers while police investigate several Liverpool murals being damaged

A fan has been arrested after clashing with police ahead of the Champions League fixture between Liverpool and Rangers at Anfield. 

As reported by The Mirror, at least one fan has been arrested after disturbances broke out. 

Merseyside Police had a plan in place in an attempt to ensure that the game went ahead without any unwanted events.

Police are also investigating after several Liverpool murals across Merseyside, including prominent ones of Jurgen Klopp and Trent Alexander-Arnold, were damaged.  

It is expected that there will be a lively atmosphere at Anfield for the first ever meeting between the two clubs. 

Rangers fans were earlier seen arriving in significant numbers ahead of the Battle of Britain fixture.
