Hotel Review: The Wall Street Hotel, New York, US

Newly opened this year, The Wall Street Hotel is a luxurious addition to New York’s Financial District with 180 stylish rooms, elegant décor and modern French bar and restaurant. The hotel occupies the iconic Tontine Building which housed the original New York Stock Exchange in 1792.

Who for

The Wall Street Hotel is ideally located for business travellers in the Financial District with its array of restaurants and tourist attractions making it increasingly popular with visitors from near and far. The luxurious atmosphere, spacious rooms and attentive service of the hotel make it a popular choice for couples, families and groups.

The hotel has over 6,500 square feet of flexible event space for meetings, weddings and other events.

Accommodation

The hotel has 180 rooms and suites with various options for couples, groups and families. The light-filled rooms have views of Wall Street or the New York harbour. All have heated bathroom flooring, luxurious neutral décor, Frette bed linens, a custom entertainment system and Bang & Olufson Bluetooth speakers. An elegant cocktail trolley has a range of wines and spirits and the bathroom has fragrant Aqua de Parma toiletries. I loved the Parisian feel to the room and the pictures of pearls which give a nod to the Paspaley family, recognised as the pioneers of the Australian South Sea pearling industry, who own the property.

Food& Drink

The Hotel’s La Marchande restaurant serves breakfast and dinner in a contemporary space on the corner of Wall Street and Water. Its brasserie-style dining room is presided over by Michelin Chef John Fraser. Dishes include French classics and an extensive French wine list of rare bottles.  Breakfast was a relaxed affair with favourites including eggs benedict on the menu and interesting people-watching to be enjoyed looking out over Wall Street.

The all-day lobby lounge is a high-ceiling, sumptuously decorated room perfect for sipping cocktails in pretty tub chairs or chatting over coffee on the sofas.

Facilities

A 24-hour fitness centre, Curated Concierge and complimentary bike rental are available for all guests. Meetings, events and weddings are catered for with the 2,100 square foot ballroom on the hotel’s top floor.

How much?

Rates at The Wall Street Hotel, a Preferred Hotels & Resorts member, start from £499 per room per night.

What’s nearby?

At 11 Wall Street, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), is one of the city’s most impressive buildings.  The famous bronze sculpture of the Charging Bull just around the corner from Wall Street was a gift to New Yorkers from Italian artist Arturo Di Modica and some visitors rub it for luck.

A few minutes’ walk from Wall Street is Battery Park, the southernmost part of Manhattan and home to an original sandstone war fort, castle Clinton. It offers a great view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Built in the footprint of the original Twin Towers is the National September 11th memorial.

The hotel is close to Wall Street subway station with great links to the attractions of New York.

Verdict

The Wall Street Hotel has professional staff, an elegant ambience with luxurious touches and is ideally located for both sightseeing and business.
