Tom Hanks' wife Rita Wilson teary as couple dine out with troubled 'rapper' son Chet

The actress appeared to be wiping tears away from her eyes during their meal as her husband sat across from her.

The couple’s son Chet sat beside her and was pictured checking his phone as well as smoking a vape at one point.

The trio was seen also seated with Tom’s daughter Elizbeth, 40, whose mother is the actor’s late first wife Samantha Lewes.

Rita opted for relaxed attire as she wore an off-shoulder black top and a silver necklace for the occasion.

Tom kept his look simple, wearing a dark navy shirt, black trousers which he teamed with brown loafers, as he was seen exiting the restaurant.

During the dinner, she was seen glancing over at her son a number of times, though it’s unclear what she might have been emotional about.

Chet opted for a casual look as he sported a black top that showed off his tattoed arms.

The family was later seen exiting the eatery as they all shared the same car following their departure from the restaurant.

Chet, born Chester Marlon Hanks, opened up on his YouTube channel, The Truth About Growing Up As A Hank, where he discussed growing up as the son of one of the world’s most famous actors, blaming his “self-destructive” behaviour on life under the spotlight.

In April, Chet faced more backlash for refusing to apologise for culturally appropriating accents, most notably Jamaican accents.
