Manchester United made a late check on the availability of Everton youngster Anthony Gordon before striking an £84million deal for Antony, according to The Athletic.
Gordon has attracted plenty of interest this summer after a superb breakthrough campaign at Goodison Park in 2021/22.
Chelsea are also thought to be monitoring the possibility of a move but the Toffees reportedly want £60m.
United’s move for Antony, which could be sealed within the next 48 hours, may kill any lingering desire to land Gordon but the Red Devils are supposedly keen to sign one more attacker before the transfer deadline.
