Sinatra Super Bowl as close as it will get for New York-New York Super Bowl

Go ahead and fantasize. Go ahead and dream.

It’s your annual Sinatra Super Bowl. You know, New York-New York Super Bowl.

In August. Of course.

Only in August.

Where your Sinatra Super Bowl championship is beating the Giants and suffering no major injuries if you’re a Jets fan, and beating the Jets and suffering no major injuries if you’re a Giants fan.

So look, the Giants are 0-0 and the Jets are 0-0, just like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers and Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow are 0-0, and if hope doesn’t spring eternal now, when exactly will it?

So this is the perfect day — we won’t be a buzz kill and call it the last day — to close your big blue eyes or your green-and-white eyes and imagine some of the possible possibilities:

Braxton Berrios returns the opening kickoff for a 95-yard touchdown.

Saquon Barkley, man on a mission, takes a checkdown from Daniel Jones, makes a juke that makes Kadarius Toney filled with envy and takes it to the house, looking very much like the Gold Jacket Guy rookie.

“I know he wants to do great things and we’re all ready for him to do what he does,” Xavier McKinney told The Post on Friday. “He’s looked great the whole offseason in everything that we’ve done, but that’s nothing that wasn’t expected.”

(Suggestion: If Brian Daboll decides to keep 26 on the sidelines, watch Matt Breida or Antonio Williams or Jashaun Corbin and dream about what an otherworldly back who has his legs back will mean.)

Elijah Moore cuts on a dime and gets deep on Adoree’ Jackson, and Joe Flacco connects on the bomb.

“Oh yeah, he’s a helluva player,” McKinney said of Moore. “I played him in college one time, but he’s one of them guys where it’s like, ‘Ah man,’ like he’s a tough cover every time, especially if you get him in space. You know it’s gonna be a long day for you.”

Jones shows continued mastery of Brian Daboll’s offense and gets the ball out quickly to Kenny Golladay for a change for a chunk play.

“I think he’s improved a lot,” McKinney said of Jones.“Obviously we feed off each other. We have conversations just about what he sees from me and kind of what I see from him to help us both get better. But I think he’s done a great job of leading the offense. Obviously it’s all new play-calling, they’ve done a great job with that of just making sure that everything is on point.”

McKinney ranges from one side of the field to the other to intercept a deep shot from Flacco. A “We want Mike White” chant erupts from the stands.

Garrett Wilson picks up where he left off at the Jets-Giants joint practice when he catches a slant from Flacco against Aaron Robinson on third-and-long.

“I thought he showed some signs of great speed, great route-running, and I thought he played well,” McKinney said of Wilson.

Evan Neal pancakes Jermaine Johnson and somewhere up there, Wellington Mara does a Michael Jackson moonwalk in front of a shellshocked Weeb Ewbank.

Quinnen Williams beats a double team and sacks Tyrod Taylor and John Mara kicks a press box trash can in disgust.

Andrew Thomas stones Carl Lawson before Lawson remembers he has 60 percent of effort, technique and violence left, and sacks Jones immediately after Johnson gets the better of Neal.

Sauce Gardner steps in front of Golladay for a pick-six of Jones, then trash-talks David Sills V before wrestling the ball away from him in the next series for another pick-six. Ira From Staten Island immediately begins his talk radio assault.

“You see his size and length and talent level pretty easily,” Jones said Thursday of Gardner. “He looks like a good player.”

Duane Brown is flagged for holding a blitzing Micah McFadden and retreats to the sideline with his head down. Robert Saleh snaps the 36-year-old vet out of it: “Positive Vibes Only, DB.”

Greg Zuerlein boots a 67-yard field goal into the wind.

Cor’Dale Flott intercepts White and a “We want Streveler” chant erupts from the stands.

Breece Hall follows a smashmouth Laken Tomlinson block on Carter Coughlin and Cam Brown and shows why he was the best back in the draft with a deceptively-fast 30-yard TD romp.

Austin Calitro intercepts Streveler and a “We want Zach” chant erupts from the stands.

The biggest roar comes when Denzel Mims makes a spectacular toe-tapping, one-handed catch in the right corner of the end zone for the go-ahead TD late in the fourth quarter.

But Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka dials up the winning TD on a shocking tackle-eligible from the Jets 2 to smart, tough, dependable Nigerian Roy Mbaeteka.

The prospect of a New York-New York Super Bowl I was never more than a pipe dream since the Allie Sherman Giants slogged through a 1-12-1 season and the Joe Namath Jets finished 6-6-2, and both of our locals wound up watching the Lombardi Packers wax the Hank Schram Chiefs 35-10 at Los Angeles Memorial Stadium.

There were tantalizing visions of a New York-New York Super Bowl in 1986, when the Joe Walton Jets raced off to a 10-1 start before they crumbled and watched Phil Simms torch the Broncos in Pasadena, Calif., in Super Bowl XXI.

Our annual Sinatra Super Bowl arrives again on Sunday. Enjoy it while you can.

When Daboll and Saleh meet for the postgame handshake, Daboll volunteers that he coached the game with a stomach bug. “All Gas No Break?” Saleh asks.
