The 'really disgusting' diet Letitia Dean tried before finding rapid weight loss plan

Letitia Dean’s return to EastEnders was dramatic in numerous ways, one being her incredible weight loss transformation that saw the jaws of viewers across the country drop. With fans branding her a “skinny queen”, she became the latest soap star to overhaul her lifestyle and with huge success. But how did she achieve her slimming goals?

The actress has previously explained she has given everything a go when it comes to weight loss techniques.

She admitted she has been mocked for her weight, with people telling her she was “too fat”.

In 2007, she took part in Strictly Come Dancing, proving she really did try everything in a bid to slim down.

“The main reason I [signed up was because [I] wanted to do something about my figure,” she explained on EastEnders’ spin-off show Secrets from the Square.

“I was so sick of extreme dieting and my weight yo-yoing.”

The Atkins diet

Probably regarded as one of the better known low-carb diets, research has shown it can aid weight loss.

It emphasises the consumption of fat and protein but severely restricts carbohydrates.

A person can expect to eat fruits, vegetables, whole grain, low-fat dairy foods, poultry, fish, nuts, and beans all while limiting their intake of red meat, saturated and trans fats, sugar, and salt.

According to the MayoClinic, as a long-term method, studies have shown that low-carb diets are “no more effective for weight loss than are standard weight-loss diets”.

So what does Letitia eat now?

She revealed she only focused on “healthy food” now that helped her to shed her unwanted pounds, explaining: “Pitta bread with a grilled skinless chicken breast, for instance, and lots of greens.”

She also put herself into a calorie deficit, dropping her daily intake to 1,300 in order to lose weight.

A calorie deficit is the energy your body requires to maintain your current weight, minus your dietary calorie intake.

According to WebMD, if a person wants to begin a calorie deficit, a good rule of thumb for healthy weight loss is a deficit of around 500 calories per day.

If done correctly, this could promote the loss of about one pound per week.
