‘Delusional’ Liz Cheney ripped for likening herself to Lincoln in concession

Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney was blasted by Republicans and conservatives after she compared herself to Abraham Lincoln in her concession speech following Tuesday’s primary loss.

“Abraham Lincoln was defeated in elections for the Senate and the House before he won the most important election of all,” Cheney said of the 16th president after she was soundly beaten by Trump-backed challenger Harriet Hageman.

“Lincoln ultimately prevailed,” Cheney went on. “He saved our union and he defined our obligation as Americans for all of history. Speaking at Gettysburg of the great task remaining before us, Lincoln said, ‘That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain. That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and a government of the people by the people and for the people shall not perish from this earth.’

“As we meet here tonight,” the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney intoned, “that remains our greatest and most important task.”

“A clear message is being sent about what the Republican Party needs to be,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) tweeted in response. “It’s not anything like liar Liz Cheney, who is nothing like Abraham Lincoln.”

“Liz Cheney is no Abraham Lincoln but she looks and sounds more like Crooked Hillary [Clinton] by the day!” said Fox News personality Tomi Lahren.

“Liz Cheney compared herself to Abraham Lincoln last night in her concession speech,” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) chimed in. “Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves from the Democrats, he didn’t become a slave to the Democrats.”

“Liz Cheney really compared herself to Lincoln… LMFAO. That CNN & MSDNC fluffing really got to her carpetbagger/warmonger head,” wrote Donald Trump, Jr.

Brigittee Gabriel, founder of Act for America, added: “Whoever wrote Liz Cheney’s concession speech is living in a state of delusion. She just got obliterated in her primary and she’s comparing herself to Abraham Lincoln.”

Conservative author Tim Young echoed that sentiment, saying, “Liz Cheney compared herself to Abraham Lincoln because I believe she’s truly delusional, wants a Civil War and thinks her side would win.”

“Sweet Jesus, she compares herself to Lincoln.  She destroyed the #Cheney family legacy and trots out the usual #NeverTrump narcissism.  Par for the course,” talk show host Mark Davis tweeted

“Liz Cheney tried to make herself a martyr at the expense of our country and our party.  Comparing yourself to Lincoln doesn’t change that,” Texas GOP congressional candidate Wesley Hunt said. “The comparison is as tone deaf and ridiculous as her seat on the January 6th Committee.”

“Someone should inform Liz Cheney that Abraham Lincoln would have voted for Harriet Hageman,” Trump-backed author Nick Adams wrote

Conservative radio host Jason Rantz also chimed in, attempting to throw water on a potential 2024 presidential bid by Cheney.

“Abraham Lincoln has a better shot at becoming president in 2024 than Liz Cheney,” he said. “Bye Liz.”
