A shocking video shows the moment heroic rescuers beat a man senseless as he grabs a woman by her hair and tries to drown her in a public fountain.
The 52-year-old man – who has not been identified and is now facing charges of attempted murder – had been cooling off in the water with the woman on Tuesday, August 9.
A passerby offered to take their picture while they were in the fountain at a park in Valencia, Spain, and fled when the man handed him his mobile phone.
The man believed his acquaintance was in on the theft and tried to drown her in the fountain, according to local media.
Phone footage of the nail-biting fight shows the shirtless thug – who appears to be drunk – roughly grabbing the woman by her hair and forcing her head down to the water.

The woman staggers back to dry land and is later given clothes by the police. She was treated in hospital for the injuries she sustained during the attack

After the dramatic rescue paramedics arrived within minutes and took the injured pair to hospital.
The victim was treated for the blows she received as the man tried to drown her, while her attacker had a cut eyebrow and cheekbone.
By the time officials arrived on the scene, the phone thief and the two rescuers were no longer there.
The police gave some clothes to the woman as she recovered from the assault.
The man was booked by National Police for attempted murder. His name was not released.
