The 19-year-old – son of pundit and former player Robbie – impressed manager Erik ten Hag during the club’s recent summer tour and a decision over plans for this season is expected over the coming week.

They are keen on taking Savage, who made his debut for United in a Champions League clash with Young Boys last term, on a season-long loan and are ready to step in should the youngster and his club decide that a spell away from Old Trafford would aid his development.
Savage, who impressed against Liverpool and Melbourne Victory while United were in Australia, is highly-rated at the United. Former players Andy Cole, Bryan Robson and Paul Scholes have all spoken highly of the player who has come through the club’s youth set up.
