MMA fighter Blake Perry sustains horrific broken nose, tries to keep fighting

You don’t need to be a doctor to spot this injury.

MMA fighter Blake Perry sustained a devastating broken nose on Sunday at the A1 Combat 4 MMA tournament, yet still wanted to continue the fight despite his gruesome disfigurement.

Entering the ring for just his second professional mixed martial arts fight, Perry took on former UFC star Marcel McCain in a welterweight bout in Stockton, Calif. McCain gained control early on in the contest, landing a massive knee directly to Perry’s face while holding him in a tight thai clinch.

Perry’s nose was crushed in the devastating blow, though the Hawaiian was miraculously able to continue fighting through the first round. Upon returning to his side of the octagon, there was little his corner could do to treat the extreme break besides wipe the blood away.

The fight was stopped moments later by the referee and ringside doctor due to the severity of the injury, but not before Perry could plead his case to continue the proceedings.

The fight was stopped moments later by the referee and ringside doctor due to the severity of the injury, but not before Perry could plead his case to continue the proceedings.

“Unfortunately the doctor would not let me go out for a second round of my fight last night!” Perry wrote on Instagram following the match. “Even though the fight was only 1 round we still brought home the fight of the night bonus.”

Despite suffering the loss and what many deem the worst broken nose ever, Perry still seemed to be in high spirits.

“Thank you to everyone who has been checking in on my. I am healing up quick and already have a fight booked for this coming weekend,” he quipped.

Perry also posted video of a doctor forcefully snapping his nose back into place, allegedly without any anesthetic. Perry confirmed the injury didn’t require surgery, only a “good ol’ aligning.”
