Soccer royalty crossed paths with music history in New York this week as Barcelona visited the iconic Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village.
The LaLiga giant has recently started a sponsorship with Spotify, worth $288million, and while the club is on its preseason tour of the United States, the new sponsors invited them to Electric Lady.
The recording studio was bought and designed by Jimi Hendrix in 1968 and opened in 1970, about three weeks before Hendrix died in England. Artists ranging from David Bowie and Led Zeppelin to Taylor Swift and Beyonce have recorded there over the years.

Spotify has had a residency at the studios since 2019 and have worked with musicians to produce the exclusive ‘Live at Electric Lady’ recordings.
Now making a foray into football, they got Barcelona to make a visit and word had clearly got out, with a large group of fans waiting outside the studio to catch a glimpse of their heroes.
When the players arrived, they were given a tour of the venue. The artist Chloe was working on her new record and she gave the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raphinha and club legend Thierry Henry a sneak listen.
Barca returned the gesture by presenting her with her own shirt, with ‘Chloe 98’ on the back – marking the year she was born.
‘Thank you Barcelona – the nicest guys I have ever met,’ the singer wrote on her Instagram story, commemorating their meeting.

Barcelona’s preseason tour of America was rounded out with a 2-0 win against New York Red Bulls on Saturday night.
It also met Juventus in a friendly in Texas and drew 2-2, routed Inter Miami 6-0 as well as beating fierce rival Real Madrid 1-0 in a Clasico exhibition in Nevada.
Xavi’s side returns to Spain for one last friendly against Mexican side Punas before the Spanish league starts.
Barcelona meets Rayo Vallecano at the Nou Camp on August 13 to begin its campaign.
