Down and out: Man is knocked out cold by a single punch during ridiculous fist fight in middle of Manhattan street

  • Video filmed by passerby at the Manhattan crossing shows two men squaring up
  • A knock out blow ends the fight and sends the one crashing to the floor
  • Felony assault in NYC is up 19% from 2021 with 2,310 more reported incidents

This is the brutal moment a man was knocked out cold with one punch in a New York City fistfight.

Video filmed by a passerby at the busy Manhattan crossing shows two men squaring up to each other in a packed street, surrounded by cars, pedestrians and even cyclists on July 7.

The pair dance around each other – before a knock out blow ends the street fight and sends the one crashing to the floor.

A quick jab from the man in the white tank top strikes the lumbering larger man in the jaw, who was slow to get his hands up.

The lights immediately go out and he collapses forwards, hitting the road with his face.

The victor does a little jig in celebration and then picks up the man’s limp legs, drags him a little, and throws them forward in such a way as to contort the unconscious man’s back.

They then land back on the hard asphalt like a sack of potatoes, although the man was reported to have regained consciousness later.

An eyewitness said: ‘I was with my son when I saw the fight break out. I really thought the worst for a moment, but thankfully we did see him wake up.’

It is just the latest violent daylight attack to plague the Big Apple as crime soars, with New York mayor Eric Adams saying he had ‘never witnessed crime at this level’ back in May.

In New York City, felony assault is up 19 per cent from 2021 with 2,310 more reported incidents, according to NYPD statistics.

The year-to-date statistics show 14,461 felony assaults have been reported in comparison to 12,151 during the same time last year.

Crime overall in the state across various spectrums, including murder, rape, and robbery, is up by 36.9% with 18,618 more reported incidents to date than last year.

Grand larceny is the top crime in the city with felony assault following shortly behind.

Two people were killed and at least 12 more were injured in 11 separate shooting and stabbing incidents in a night of bloodshed in New York City on July 17.

The New York Police Department’s statistics showed that overall major crime has risen by more than 30 percent since 2021.

Mayor Eric Adams, who vowed to crack down on crime when he took office in January, has so far failed to make a dent in the problem.

There has also been a blowback against soft-on-crime policies as rates of homicide and violent crime rose during the Covid-19 pandemic, stoking fears that Los Angeles, New York and other cities would revert to the crime-ridden 1990s.
