Married At First Sight stars Noi Phommasak and Steve Moy SPLIT

Married At First Sight stars Noi Phommasak and Steve Moy have decided to get divorced after tying the knot on the 14th and latest season.

Noi, 33, cheerfully broke the news on Instagram this Saturday by posting a snap of herself grinning in a bikini and writing: ‘Divorce feels good.’

Hours later Steve, 38, somberly revealed on Instagram that he ‘was not expecting this announcement to happen today’ although they broke up ‘a little while’ ago.

He described them as ‘incompatible’ and their relationship as ‘unsustainable,’ but added that he will ‘always love’ Noi and hopes to ‘remain in touch’ with her.

Meanwhile, after posting her bikini snap to her main Instagram page, Noi took the show to her Insta Stories to showcase her sizzling beach day.

‘Take back your narrative (even when your voice shakes),’ she wrote over a clip of herself in her bikini in the shallows.

Tellingly, she set the clip to the Kanye West song Hurricane featuring The Weeknd and Lil Baby, which includes the lines: ‘Finally I’m free.’

That night she posted a clip of herself beaming as she strode through a hallway and wrote: ‘Back to being lost again lol.’

The Lifetime reality series Married At First Sight pairs people up and sends them down the aisle the very first time they ever meet.

Then, over the course of eight weeks, the newlyweds will have to get to know each other and determine whether they regard each other as suitable spouses.

Each season reaches its climax with Decision Day, where the couples formally announce whether they are going to stay together or not.

Steve and Noi’s season ran from January through May this year, and they stayed together through Decision Day in spite of the friction in their romance.

Noi’s indiscretion on social media led to an argument where Steve demanded: ‘Why is it so important to broadcast our distress to the rest of the world?’

Meanwhile, Steve was laid off from his job as a sales engineer when the coronavirus lockdowns swept the country, and although he had been able to secure freelance work, his unstable employment status was a sticking point for Noi.

‘I mean, I wasn’t necessarily thinking that, you know, he is not employable. So it’s the motivation that isn’t there for me right now,’ she explained on the series

Noi and Steve also had an argument that unfolded in front of the reality TV cameras about whether they should live together after the end of the show.

While Steve appeared determined that they should move in with one another, Noi was ‘not comfortable yet’ with the idea, much to his exasperation.

Her reluctance to live with so soon after they met was connected to the fact that she had previously lived with a ‘pretty serious’ boyfriend and found herself having to ‘start all over’ when the relationship ended.

In a lengthy Instagram message he posted this Saturday two hours after Noi’s casual divorce announcement, Steve expounded on their marriage problems.

‘When I said yes on decision day, I knew that our relationship was far from perfect, but I had the belief that with enough time, effort, and understanding, we could overcome the challenges we faced, and build a healthy, functioning relationship,’ the reality star wrote in his post.

‘Over time I’ve just lost hope that this could happen, and believe we are incompatible in ways that attempts at compromise can’t seem to fix or overcome.’

Wrote he: ‘I am under the belief that our relationship is unsustainable in its current form, and after many attempts, I don’t believe we can get it to the point where it is functioning at a level that is healthy enough, while both of our needs are being met.’

Steve explained: ‘We have been apart for a little while now, to the point of moving on, with hope pretty much fading for any chance we could recover.’

He added: ‘Although I had made a decision, I was still holding out for the potential for true change, but there were signs that it just wouldn’t happen. This surprise announcement is a signal that it’s definitely time to let go.’

In an emotional section of his post, he wrote: ‘Noi, I’ll always love you. I so wish we were a better fit. I wish we could meet each other’s needs without feeling like we have to compromise ourselves to a point beyond that we consider acceptable.’

The soon-to-be divorce added: ‘I wish that our willingness to be flexible to each other matched the chemistry we were lucky to have.’

Reflective: Steve noted: 'When things are good, and we are free of conflict, we fit so naturally together, and it feels so easy to just spend time together if we put our problems aside'

He expressed a desire that they are able to ‘remain cordial, and at some point we can remain in touch, as I enjoy having you in my life when things are good. Hopefully when all is said and done, this is still possible.’

Steve noted: ‘When things are good, and we are free of conflict, we fit so naturally together, and it feels so easy to just spend time together if we put our problems aside. Deep down, I know it’s not the right thing to do. There are too many things that I unfortunately can’t ignore, and proceed with this relationship confidently.’

He concluded: ‘I’ve given so much of myself to this marriage, the process, and this experience as a whole. I don’t regret anything I’ve given, but it’s time that we start doing what’s best for ourselves.’

Moving on: Steve however acknowledged: 'There are too many things that I unfortunately can¿t ignore, and proceed with this relationship confidently'
