Foo Fighters to hold tribute concerts for late ‘bada– bandmate’ Taylor Hawkins

The Foo Fighters are honoring their late drummer and friend Taylor Hawkins with two special tribute concerts to be held later this year.

Hawkins died in March due to a cardiovascular collapse at the age of 50 in a Colombian hotel where multiple drugs were found, according to a report that cited Colombian authorities.

The first show will be on Sept. 3 at London’s Wembley Stadium and the second is set for Sept. 27 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

The “all-star rock and roll shows” were announced on the band’s website on Wednesday to “celebrate the memory and music of a rock legend.”

Lineups for each show will be revealed in the near future and tickets will go on sale on June 17.

“Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee will come together with the Hawkins family to celebrate the life, music and love of their husband, father, brother and bandmate with The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts,” the band noted in an emotional statement.

The concerts “will unite several [artists], the Hawkins family and of course his Foo Fighters brothers in celebration of Taylor’s memory and his legacy as a global rock icon.”

“His bandmates and his inspirations playing the songs that he fell in love with, and the ones he brought to life,” the note continued.

The Foo Fighters also posted about the shows on their social media pages, writing alongside a poster for the concert: “For our dear friend, our bada– bandmate, our beloved brother.”

The late drummer joined the rock group in 1997 and first appeared with them on the tour for their sophomore album, “The Colour & The Shape.” Hawkins then made his recording debut with the musicians with the 1999 album, “There Is Nothing Left To Lose.”

Hawkins’ widow Alison also shared her own statement and expressed her gratitude to his loyal and loving fans. “In celebration of his life, is now up to all of us who loved him most to honor Taylor’s legacy and the music he gave us,” she wrote.

“My deepest thanks and admiration go out to the global Foo Fighters community and Taylor’s fans far and wide for the outpouring of love each and every one of you have shown our beloved Taylor. Your kindness has been an invaluable comfort for my family and me during this time of unimaginable grief,” the message continued.

The Foo Fighters canceled their tour shortly after Hawkins’ passing to help them “heal.”

During the Grammy Awards on April 3, a tribute to Hawkins was performed by singer Bille Eilish during the ceremony’s In Memoriam segment.
