Receiving a raucous reception after kicking a goal at the MCG is the stuff of dreams for most footy fan, but it became reality for a young kid on Saturday night.

As Auskick players took to the field at halftime of the game between Richmond and Essendon, a young gun stood out on the park.

Footage shared on Instagram by The Highlights Club shows the youngster beating a defender, before taking a bounce and skipping past another two defenders and then booting the ball through the sticks.

His exploit was met with a huge cheer by the crowd, with both Bombers and Tigers fans giving the little tot a moment to remember.

The kid, however, had just got started and revved up the crowd with all the confidence of a veteran kicking a major during a Grand Final.

The fans swiftly responded and the roar that accompanied the youngster’s second goal, which came after he smartly stepped inside a defender before putting his laces through the Sherrin, was even louder.

If the kid was the star of the half-time entertainment, the pre-match ceremony delivered a memorable spectacle.

Players from both teams took part in the War Cry ceremony that preceded the highlight of the AFL’s Indigenous Round on Saturday night.

The Bombers were represented by the Korri Youth Will Shake Spears Aboriginal Dance Group, while the Tigers War Cry involved several of Richmond’s indigenous players.

‘How good was it? It‘s one of the best things you’ll see in football all year,’ former Brisbane Lions great Jonathan Brown said on Fox Footy.

‘It’s great to see Marlion Pickett could actually be a part of it.

‘What a big atmosphere and inspirational thing for all the players to be involved in.’

Pickett played a part in designing the guernsey the Tigers wore on Saturday night and took part in the pre-game ceremony, despite being banned for a week for rough conduct.
