Beau McCreery set his teammate Tyler Brown up for a freakish goal in the first quarter of Collingwood’s clash against the Suns on Sunday with the best assist of the season so far.
The Pies were up 31-12 with around seven minutes left in the quarter when Josh Daicos bombed the ball towards the goal square from close to the boundary line about 50 metres out to the right of the sticks.
McCreery soared above two Gold Coast defenders and managed to get his hand to the ball, showing great touch to tip it down into Brown’s path with virtually no space to spare.

Brown just managed to put boot to ball before it crossed the back of the line, with replays confirming he just squeaked out a major.
‘This might be the greatest assist of all time,’ ex-Geelong Cameron Mooney said in commentary for Fox Footy.
‘This is almost a basketball assist. That is unbelievable.’
The Suns leapt out to an early two-goal lead but Collingwood completely dominated the rest of the first quarter to go into the first break ahead 45-19, with Darcy Cameron kicking two goals and Patrick Lipinski leading all players with 14 disposals.
McCreery also kicked a goal, as did Jordan de Goey, who was at one stage in doubt for the match along with Will Hoskin-Elliott as the pair were struck down by gastro.
By halftime the Pies were up by 21 points, with the Suns fighting back after their opponents kicked three unanswered goals midway through the second term.
Brody Mihocek scored two straight before a great individual effort from Jack Ginnivan had the Gold Coast reeling as he beat three defenders on a cutting run along the boundary before snapping one home off his left foot.
The Suns struck back through Levi Casboult – who kicked his fourth major of the contest – and Mabior Chol to make it 71-50 at the main break.
