Doja Cat and The Weeknd with Swedish House Mafia close out Sunday at Coachella Weekend 1

Doja Cat and The Weeknd rocked the crowd as the final two performances on Sunday night at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Doja Cat was the penultimate performer of the night on the Coachella Stage on Sunday night, as fans screamed her name.

The Weeknd finally took the stage in a black shirt and black pants, at the top of the large ring encircling the DJs, singing his new song Sacrifice from his 2022 album Dawn FM.

The Weeknd came through as a last-minute replacement to close out the first weekend.

The 32-year-old singer (born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye) was announced in early April alongside Swedish House Mafia, who both took over the Sunday headlining spot from Kanye West.

West, 44, unceremoniously pulled out just weeks ahead of the Indio, California festival – the first in two years after being shut down due to COVID-19, though he had hinted at pulling out before that.

Before the 2020 Coachella festival was canceled due to COVID-19, Travis Scott was one of the original headliners with Rage Against the Machine and Frank Ocean.

When the 2022 festival was confirmed, Scott was slated to return, although he was yanked from headlining after his tragic Astroworld festival, where 10 people were killed and hundreds more injured during a fatal crowd crush.

West was announced as the headliner alongside Billie Eilish and Harry Styles, though the controversial rapper made headlines when he called out Eilish for what he thought was a perceived ‘diss’ of Scott.

Eilish was performing in Atlanta in early February when she stopped her performance after seeing a fan was having trouble breathing.

She helped the fan get an inhaler and said, ‘I wait for the people to be OK before I keep going,’ which Kanye West took as a diss towards Travis Scott.

West called out Eilish in an Instagram post that was later deleted, where he confirmed Travis Scott would be on stage with him… but only if Eilish apologized.

‘And yes Trav will be with me at Coachella. But now I need Billie to apologize before I perform,’ he said in his post.

Eilish commented on the post, ‘Literally never said a thing about Travis. Was just helping a fan.’
