Prince Charles welcomed tour guides to his country home and led them on a route around the greenery yesterday.

The Prince of Wales, 73,  looked ever the countryside gentleman in a dark green waterproof over a suit as he was joined by the group ahead of Highgrove’s seasonal opening to the public.

More than 60 garden guides are employed at the estate by The Prince’s Foundation, and many joined Charles for an induction ahead of the 2022 tours season, which launches on Monday.

Each year, the estate – which also sports an Orchard Tea Room – typically welcomes around 40,000 visitors.

The Prince’s Foundation also has plans to launch education and training programmes for local school pupils and students from across the UK in sustainable fashion and textiles, heritage building skills and traditional arts.

Charles’ walk around the gardens with new and returning guides is an annual tradition.

The pictures are the latest sign the Duke of Cornwall is moving on following the fall-out from his brother Prince Andrew’s appearance at Prince Philip’s memorial this week.

The Duke of York, 62, took centre stage at Westminster Abbey’s Thanksgioving of Life service escorting the Queen to the front row leaving the royal family ‘dismayed’.

It had been expected that the Dean of Westminster would take the Queen to her seat, with Andrew behind. But the shamed royal instead walked her right in front of live cameras.

The prince has been forced to step back from public life over his association with the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Earlier this month he paid millions to Virginia Giuffre, who had accused him of rape. He has consistently denied her allegations.

Insiders have claimed he’ll use the opportunity as a springboard to support his mother at a Platinum Jubilee service at St Paul’s Cathedral in June and is not bothered if ‘public opinion is against him’,

Earlier this week, Charles unveiled a plaque at the low carbon Entopia building at Cambridge University, which is the new headquarters for the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

The prince, himself a graduate of Cambridge University, then met international students at King’s College, who are on Prince of Wales scholarship, before a visit to the Whittle Laboratory to learn about work to achieve net-zero aviation.
